PARTNERING WITH GREAT BRANDS

Many of the brands that we partner with at Lamey Wellehan have taken action to help reduce damage to the environment. Steps like using recycled materials, reducing carbon emissions and curbing the use of chemicals all are great programs to help improve sustainability. Below are six such brands and some of the things they are doing to help protect the Earth.

Brooks logo

Brooks recognizes that, as a global business, they inherently impact people and places and have launched many sustainability programs. Moving to recycled polyester, more than 22 million plastic bottles have been diverted from landfills. By 2023, 100% of their manufacturing assembly will have switched from chemical-based to water-based methods. In addition, they are on track to be using only renewable electricity at all Brooks-operated facilities.

Timberland Logo

Timberland has significantly reduced its carbon footprint over the past several years and back in 2015 it met its 10-year goal of reducing carbon emissions by 50%. Recently, Timberland announced the plan for all of its products to have a “net positive impact” on nature by 2030. 100% of products to be designed for circularity and 100% of natural materials to be sourced from regenerative agriculture.

Dansko Logo

Dansko is a proud supporter of the American Sustainable Business Council and have enacted many policies to help reduce its global carbon footprint. A recent addition to their sustainability program is using a new caron-negative EVA cushioning foam in the new line of Dansko clogs. The new material is bio-based and is sustainability produced from sugarcane, a renewable source that contributes to the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by CO2 capture.

Hoka Logo

Hoka is one of the fastest growing running brands and has stated the goal of using their scale to fight climate change. They have reduced their use of virgin petroleum-based materials, and is working with supply chain partners to reduce energy consumption. Their distribution center is on track to be a zero-waste facility by 2027. In addition, plastic is being eliminated from packaging and they are on track to reduce or divert footwear assembly waste by 50%.

Keen Logo

Nearly 10 years ago, Keen started what it calls a “detox journey” to identify harmful chemicals and replace them with safer alternatives. As a part of the Outdoor Industry Association, Keen is working to identify and implement better business practices throughout their supply chains. In packaging, It uses nearly 100 percent recycled materials and is exploring options for boxless shipping.

Teva Logo

Teva is committed to supporting the environment and since 2020 they have reduced approximately 6.6 million pounds of Greenhouse Gas Emission, 622 million gallons of water, and 56 million MJ of energy. Just recently, Teva launched a new recycling program where unwanted sandals can be diverted from landfills so they can be recycled into something new.

Sustainability

Lamey Wellehan understands that we all have a role in protecting our environment. Lamey Wellehan was a proud participant in the Governor's Carbon Challenge program in 1994, which has helped us focus on the steps we could do to help our environment. Our goal was to reduce our carbon emissions by 50% by 2020 and in 2019 we met that goal. Looking toward the future, we will continue to reduce our environmental impact even further.
