Lamey Wellehan is proud to be a member of the On The Pathway To 100% Clean Energy program. This nonprofit, nonpartisan project was created by Maine business owners to help build a clean energy future for Maine. Lamey Wellehan encourages companies to stop burning fossil fuel and start benefiting from clean energy. Working together, we can help Maine meet its pledge to reduce its own fossil fuel emissions by 45% by the year 2030, and to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045.
Lamey Wellehan knows that a vision and setting small goals is all that is needed to make big gains. In 1993, we started our recycling program at our stores. It was a small step but that modest program helped to change our company culture and led to further initiatives in the years that followed. In 2003, we joined the Governor’s Carbon Challenge, and that program helped us to recognize the importance of carbon reduction and sustainability while also pushing us to start tracking carbon emissions company-wide. We set the goal of reducing our company’s carbon emissions by 50% by the year 2020, a goal we met. Lamey Wellehan is now looking to the future and that includes being On The Pathway To 100% Clean Energy.
